ABOUT US

My family and I have been breeding Australian Shepherds for 16 years. I am dedicated to providing healthy, happy puppies that are bred to breed standard with good temperaments. As a breeder, I am always looking for and researching ways to improve what I do. What is the best way to care for my dogs? How do I make sure I am raising puppies that are healthy and going to live long lives? Am I doing the best I can do?

There are new research studies coming out all the time. As a breeder, I find it is important to keep up with as much of this research as I can. There are studies on nutrition, how long vaccinations work, what the best age to sterilize is, how to provide proper socialization, how to combat aging, what the best flea and tick treatments are, what the best heartworm treatments are, what the best teeth care is, etc.

When I learn something new, how do I apply it? How do I pass that on to a new puppy family? At present, I have three ways I provide information to my new puppy families:

  • When you pick up your puppy, I will be going over key information that you will need to know for the present and near future. I will answer any questions that you have at the time of pick-up, however, I am also willing to answer any questions in the next couple of weeks, months, or years. I will be available throughout the lifetime of your dog and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions. My current phone number will also always be here on my website, so if you ever lose it or forget it, you can find all of my contact information here.

  • The second way I inform my puppy families is by making what I call a “puppy binder” that is loaded with information to help. Why I feed what I do, how to prepare you puppy's meals or transition them to a new food, when their next vaccinations are due, and some of the research I have found that supports my practices. It also has a list of books, websites, and people that are great to follow on social media, particularly Facebook as I spend most of my time there. It also includes practical things like how to put together a puppy/dog first aid kit, a list of common plants that are toxic to dogs, and information meant to teach you about internal parasites and what kills each of them in order to maintain your puppy's health.

  • The third thing I do is send every new puppy family home with a copy of the book “The Forever Dog”. Written by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker, this book is an excellent source for helping dogs to live longer by giving you information on how to provide a healthy lifestyle for your dog.

I always aim to be the type of breeder that I would want to buy a puppy from. It's no secret that there are plenty of harmful breeding practices out there, and I want to provide puppies who have grown up with enriched lives filled with love and care. My dogs aren't means to an end, they're part of my family and people should be able to buy a puppy without worrying about their living conditions.
